Common questions
With a second pair of hands and our detailed instructions (instructions included in paper form with the delivery and also accessible digitally), assembly is quick and easy. Generally, for our smallest playsets, you can expect to spend about 6–8 hours assembling (without anchoring them in concrete) if you have the right tools and some DIY experience. For larger swing sets, we recommend having two friends available to help around 10–12 hours. And once your friends are there, they might as well stay to celebrate the grand opening together!
The boards and posts have been pre-cut and are ready for use; they only require sanding at the edges to prevent splintering. All necessary screws, including covering caps, are included in your delivery. For assembly, you'll need the following tools:
- Screwdriver
- Spirit level
- Rubber mallet
- Square
- Wrench set
Tip: Ensure that you use the correct bit size when fastening the provided screws to prevent premature rust and damage.
Even if the swing set is stable, we always recommend anchoring it in the ground to ensure your children's safety. Your swing set will become even more stable once you anchor it! All anchors are screwed to the playset posts and — depending on which type of anchor you choose — can mostly not be seen from the outside. In general, we recommend that all posts leading to the ground are anchored in the ground. Ladders and climbing walls should also be secured with two anchors each. You can find more information in the respective product descriptions.
We offer two different anchor sets: the Wickey SimpleLock and the Wickey QuickLock.
Both must be attached to the swing set. The difference between the two is that the SimpleLock anchors need to be set in concrete while QuickLock anchors are screwed in the ground.
No Yearly Sealing Required! No. Our boiler-pressure impregnation process protects the wood from the inside out, making it maintenance-free. Many competitors require you to seal their playsets annually as a condition of their warranty, offloading the cost and labour onto you.
Wickey playsets use Southern Yellow Pine, which is up to 60% denser and significantly stronger than the China Fir used in other sets. This provides more stability and superior fastener-holding power. Furthermore, our wood is professionally treated with a non-toxic preservative for lasting safety.
