Wood
At Wickey, we prioritize high-quality, durable, and sustainably sourced wood for our outdoor play equipment. We use Southern Yellow Pine, a strong and reliable wood sourced from the United States.
To enhance its longevity and resistance to weather, rot, and pests, our wood is ground-treated with MCA (Micronized Copper Azole). This ensures a solid, safe, and long-lasting foundation for our playsets, providing endless fun while maintaining high safety standards.
Pressure-treated wood has undergone a preservation process to make it more resistant to moisture, rot, fungi, and insects.
During pressure-treatment, the wood is placed in a vacuum chamber, and a protective treatment — such as MCA (Micronized Copper Azole) — is forced deep into the wood fibers under high pressure. This process significantly extends the wood’s lifespan, making it ideal for outdoor use in playsets, decking, and fencing.
In short, pressure-treated wood lasts longer, withstands outdoor conditions better, and requires less maintenance compared to untreated wood.
In general, moisture is not a cause for concern. In our experience, it can take some time for the moisture that results from the impregnation process to completely disappear from the wood. It's important to unpack the wood immediately upon receipt and store it in a dry place until assembly.
